She Stoops To Conquer

A MAPPA MUNDI | TORCH THEATRE | THEATR MWLDAN CO-PRODUCTION

Guest directed by Peter Doran

UK TOUR 2009

“Exuberance, high humour and good spirits”

Adam Somerset for Theatre-Wales.co.uk

A  sumptuous society romp with Oliver Goldsmiths classic 18th Century farce She Stoops to Conquer, guest directed by Peter Doran of The Torch Theatr, Milford Haven.

With an outrageous mix of secret elopements and nocturnal confusions, this satirical poke at polite society paints a ribald and hilarious portrait of life and love in the town and country with mistaken identities, acts of blatant greed, selfishness and plain stupidity, making it perfect fodder for Mappa Mundi’s sardonic style. Guest Directed by Peter Doran of The Torch Theatre, Milford Haven, audiences can expect larger than life characters, big laughs and even bigger hairpieces…

Mae dau ŵr ifanc coegfalch sy’n teithio i blasty gwledig yn cael eu twyllo drwy jôc gan yr anghyfrifol a’r diatal Tony Lumpkin, i feddwl mai tafarn yw’r plasty. Ar ôl cyrraedd mae’r ddau ŵr yn trin eu gwestywr, Mr Hardcastle fel tafarnwr. Ond mae hyn yn gweithio er mantais ei ferch brydferth a chlyfar, Kate, sy’n dieithrio ei hun fel morwyn tafarn, er mwyn ennill calon ei chariadfab swil.

Gyda chymysgedd beiddgar o ffoadau cyfrinachol a dryswch canol nos, mae gan y gomedi  hon ddeialog ffraeth, hiwmor miniog a wigiau mawr!

**** The Guardian

“… the laughs come thick and fast … There is an unfortunate misconception that classic theatre can be stuffy and elitist, but this production is nothing of the sort.”
