Robert was born in Longview, Washington State, U.S.A. He is an actor, director and acting teacher. He is also an NLP master practitioner trained by Ian McDermott at ITS and a current recipient of the Arts Council of Wales Creative Wales Award to research Neuroscience, Biology and Physiology and how it applies to learning and disseminating that information to the public through theatre games, theatre practice and magic.
He is an award-winning actor and has taught both internationally and throughout the UK with such companies at the RSC, Young Vic, Royal Central School of Music and Drama, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and Living Pictures.
He has been Artistic Associate at the Bristol Old Vic and is joint Artistic Director of Living Pictures Productions (1999-present) with his wife Elen Bowman. They are currently piloting a new land based scheme (Coed Dylan) near Carmarthen with young people who are on the fringes of the education system funded by a grant from Tesco’s Bags for Help Scheme.
2017 sees him travelling to the US to work with American Universities to develop games and acting exercises to bring the latest in neurological science into mainstream education. He will also be collaborating with Paul Whittaker to realise Paul’s play Gods and Kings, he is developing a new piece on weight loss called Say When and his one person show, Diary of a Madman will be travelling to India later this year as part of the India Wales project funded by the British Council/Wales Arts International.
