Peter Knight studied musical composition at Cardiff University under Alun Hoddinott and received the Hywel John Bevan Memorial Prize for composition in his final year. He recently gained his second degree from the university studying with Lynne Plowman and Anthony Powers.
Peter is one of the founding members of Mappa Mundi and has written original scores for all of their productions to date. He has written for film and provided a number of theme tunes and much incidental music for BBC Wales. His first love is writing for the stage and he has provided music for such companies as Theatr Clwyd, Sherman Theatre, Hijinx, Theatr Iolo, Caerphilly Festival Theatre and Everyman. Mappa Mundi provides the perfect vehicle for Peter’s talent for evoking era, scene-setting, underscoring, setting text and providing an additional dimension into characterisation and interplay. He is currently working on a musical based on the life, times and writings of Samuel Pepys.
